Good news for motorists as the petrol price is to decrease by 20c per litre on Wednesday.
THE Department of Energy announced at the weekend that the petrol price is to decreaseby 20c per litre on Wednesday, 7 December.
This applies to both grades of petrol (93 and 95 octane), with the price of diesel decreasing by between 31c/l and 32c/l‚ depending on the sulphur content‚ while illuminating paraffin will cost between 28c and 38c less per litre and LP gas 17c less.
A Department of Energy representative said the Rand appreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review‚ on average‚ when compared to the previous period.
The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 28 October to 1 December was 13.9125 compared to 13.9646 during the previous period. This led to decreases in the contribution to the Basic Fuels Price on petrol (by 2.02 c/l)‚ diesel (by 1.96 c/l) and illuminating paraffin (by 1.96 c/l).
