JOHANNESBURG – There are two separate service delivery protests underway in Gauteng on Wednesday morning.

In Phola Park, Thokoza, residents took to the streets stoning vehicles and blocking the road with burning tyres.

Old Vereeniging road has been affected.

Meanwhile, Leratong residents on the West Rand are protesting over a lack of electricity.

They’ve barricaded the R41 and motorists have been warned to use alternative routes.

The police’s Lucky Matoma says, “We can confirm that we’ve also arrested two suspects. Protests started on Tuesday at 6pm and are still continuing, but we are monitoring the area.”

Last week protests were witnessed in Eldorado Park, Ennerdale, Klipspruit and Orange Farm.
