Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo says he is hopeful ‘the revelation of the year’ Mohamed Salah will be fully fit to compete at the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Egypt to have a shot at the Ballon d’Or.

Salah, 25, enjoyed a record-breaking season in the Premier League, becoming the record top scorer in one season after scoring 32 league goals – and 44 in total with Liverpool over 52 appearances.

Ronaldo issued his praise and support after his injury against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final, while hinting he has a chance at winning the 2018 Ballon d’or title.

“Mo Salah has been one of the revelations of the year. I hope his injury in the final in Kiev doesn’t keep him out,” Ronaldo told reporters on Monday, as quoted by KingFut.

“Many people talk about the Cristiano Ronaldo-Messi battle [for the Ballon d’or] but there are other players who have chances to enter the race. The Egyptian is one of them.”

While Salah recently confirmed his return to training his fitness is in doubt to start in their Group A opener against Uruguay this week.
